For a Day visits Camp Quality South

By: Megan Maiani-For a Day Detroit Director
For ten years now, For a Day-Detroit Chapter has been visiting Camp Quality on the day of their big dance. Volunteers from all over came to help get the kids all dolled up for the royal ball. It just so happened this year that there was a tornado and storm watch during the event so all 68 children and their companions were directed to the basement area to partake in our activities.
Jeni Cram, (CQ Director’s sister), brought some hairstylists from her salon in Fenton, as well as Megan from JD Michael Salon in Fenton came to help with braids, updo’s and curling of the girls hair.
Megan, FAD Director, got her fingers painted numerous colors from spraying all the boys’ hair fun colors! The CQ Volunteer Coordinator, Ted, even let the little girls spray his white hair hot pink and green!! A team of wonderful lady volunteers helped paint nails and apply makeup.
All 160 cookies that we brought were decorated and eaten. Some of the boys were really into creating awesome art with their cookies!
Thank you for all the donations that were given to us of makeup and makeup bags as well as the time and energy from all of our wonderful volunteers. This is one event that the kids at Camp Quality really look forward to each year and we could not do it without the support of the community!
