July 27 - Texas Children's Cancer Center
For my first event at Texas Children's Cancer Center, I had around thirty-five children that participated. We were allowed to set up in the center of the clinic which was great because the children were able to see what we were doing. Along with the items that were received via mail (tiaras, boas, firemen hats, and misc. toys makeup) I also brought two big boxes of assorted children’s books. We passed out many books, and the rest of the books were left for the nurses to pass out to patients that could not attend. About 120 books were left.
There was a little girl who is a twin, she was the sweetest little angel. Whatever she asked for she made sure to get the same for her twin. Watching her interact with my volunteers and watching her loving concern for her twin sister was just a very special experience for me. The event lasted for about two and a half hours. We all left extremely humbled and grateful to be able to be a part of this event.
