August 29 - Monroe Carell, Jr Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt
This is the party summary for our party August 29, 2019.
It was very exciting to have the Metro Police Department join us again for today’s event! They brought goodie bags for each child that contained the following items: Small Flashlight, Foam Police Car, Foam Ball, Yo-Yo, Pen/Pencil, Child Designed Highlighter (Mop Head Pen), Police Sticker Badges, Coloring Book and Paper Police Hat, and a Guardian Bear. We had Sgt. Bonita Blue, Special Ops/SRT Officers Morgan and Gann with departments bomb robot, and Captain Randy Hickerson. They were able to entertain boys and girls with “Mr. Gadget”, the bomb squads’ robot.
The Tutu Ladies never disappoint with plenty of the amazing tutus, capes and mask. These items are lovingly handmade at creation events that they host. Thank you to everyone that attends and donates to these wonderful ladies in order to put such huge smiles on those sweet faces.
We had 8 girls that were greeted by Sgt. Blue, Ms. USA TENNESSEE, Savana Hodge, Delaney Henry, and Merina from The Wishes Foundation. Each girl was treated to fingernail polish, lipstick, party favors and a crown that is donated from girls that compete in pageants local and national levels.
After all nails and lips are painted, crowns selected and tutus on, the girls had pictures taken with the Sgt Blue, Ms. USA TN, Savana, and Merina. Love hearing the many giggles and laughter for the short time we are there, hope we make memories for them to remember.
We entertained 12 boys at this event. I think the Mr. Gadget draws them in, they were allowed to control and maneuver him with the remote control. One very well-known little boy, famous in his own right with a successful procedure at Vanderbilt, wanted to take in all the activities, having nails painted, and lip stick. But he really enjoyed the handcuff gift from the Metro Police. He quickly handcuffed Ms. USA TN, Savana and Sgt. Blue. We all so enjoyed his energy at the event.
We also were able to send 3 goodie bags with party favors, lip stick, nail polish, tutu or cape and a crown for those ones that were unable to attend the event.
Again a HUGE thank you to all the volunteers that devote their precious time to put huge smiles on these precious children faces if only for an hour, the memories made in that hour will last a lifetime.
