November 18 - Texas Children's
Our Thanksgiving event was a great turnout. We welcomed a little over 50 children, 27 girls and 23 boys and their siblings. We had four stations set up: one for nails, one with makeup, one with the tiaras, boas, turkey feather hats, and colored necklaces and our turkey craft table.
My volunteers interacted so well with all the kids, we are all bilingual so we were able to really interact with a lot of the parents as well. Every visit is very special, this visit we had the opportunity to celebrate with one of the patients. It was her last day of chemo and at Texas Children's Hospital...on your last treatment they get to ring a loud bell and we all celebrate together! It was an absolute pleasure to watch that little girl jump and scream for joy, she went through so much and she persevered!
What an inspiration these kids are, I look up to every one of them. We all left with our souls filled with faith and hope for every single one of those little angels. Their smiles and laughter are what keeps us coming back.
