A CALL TO DUTY! The Pittsburgh chapter of the For A Day Foundation received notice that one particular 10-year-old could use some superhero motivation before his next radiation treatment and Captain America and Wonder Woman leaped into action!
Not unlike the parable about the Star Thrower, tossing beached starfish back into the ocean and stating "it made a difference to that one!", we had a smaller-than-usual crowd for our October "Fun Friday" event, marking the end of a radiation treatment week for just one special little girl. The party, however, was extremely heartwarming and memorable to the hospital staff & FADF volunteers.
Our first hospital visit for the Pittsburgh chapter! Photo booths brought smiles and silly poses for the patients celebrating their final day of radiation!
We served 5 boys and 1 girl before touring the oncology floor. After a full-schedule and fulfilling morning, the For A Day Foundation heroes left the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, knowing that it was a little bit happier, a little bit braver, and waved as they left, to the cheers of "Batman!" and "Wonder Woman!" as they walked down the long hallway.
