June 2 - Ronald McDonald House, Arnold Palmer campus

The Central Florida Chapter of the For a Day Foundation kicked off the summer with a visit to the Arnold Palmer campus of the Ronald McDonald Houses of Central Florida!  Panera Bread generously donated sandwiches, cookies and chip for the families. To make sure we catered to the kids, we made peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and brownies!

As some volunteers prepared and set up lunch, the rest of us set up our Queen for a Day and Hero for a Day table with tiaras, makeup, capes and masks.   As the families started to trickle in, we met a little girl that was so excited to have her makeup done and wear a tiara. She was smiling from ear to ear the entire time and ran out to show her father her new look.

We also met a family with a very outgoing little boy who wore his green cape while running around pretending to be a superhero while his sister had her makeup done.  There were a few children that were not able to leave the hospital, so we sent their parents with some crayons, coloring books and capes to bring back with lunch.

Overall, we had 2 superheroes, 4 queens and sent 4 children items in the hospital.

Thank you to Christy (our new Committee Member from Tampa), Hannah, Lori, Maureen and Jasicka for coming ready to cook, clean and transform the kids!  And a huge thank you to Panera Bread for the generous donation!
