December 27 - Florida Hospital for Children

Our final visit of 2018 was a holiday visit to Florida Hospital for Children.  In the spirit of the holidays, we invited children from all pediatric units to join us for some games and a special guest appearance!  Unfortunately, many children were unable to attend because of hospital wide flu season precautions.

Overall, we saw 3 girls and 2 boys, and left bags for 4 girls and 1 boy on oncology, as well as enough items for another 30 children in other units.  In addition, many siblings, parents and grandparents joined in the fun.

Our visit consisted of a hot chocolate station complete with whipped cream, candy canes, sprinkles, chocolate and caramel syrup, a snowball game, pin the nose on the snowman, a nail painting station, our superhero capes and masks, our beautiful donated tiaras and wands and, last but not least, a lot of dancing!

After all of the children that were able to participate were there, our surprise guests turned on the music and the dancing began!  The Funkywunks, a hip hop dance group from Orlando (known for their time on World of Dance) took the floor and showed us some moves!  They were joined by a very outgoing sibling who showed us some moves of his own! Everyone watched, dancing in their seats and singing to the music!

Overall, it was an amazing visit!  I want to thank The Funkywunks for participating in our visit and making it a wonderful day for everyone involved!  They were funny, engaging and entertaining! Thank you to Julie, Clarissa, Brenna, Ben, Eldrin, Nate, Ryan, AJ, Da’Zhuan, Malcolm and mom Angela!   I also want to thank the volunteers that showed up and helped make the decorations and goodie bags for our visit, as well as those that donated items for the children.  Lastly, I want to thank our 2018 sponsors, Hoagland Electric, LLC and Crossley Shear Wealth Management for their support and participation in our events!
