Our annual snowflake party at the Ronald McDonald House consisted of five boys, five girls, and approximately ten family members. We had four For a Day volunteers.
We had stations for nail polish, makeup, tiaras, crafts, drawing, snowball toss, and snowman making. The girls loved hanging at the makeup station, and several of them hung around the station for nearly an hour. The boys were having a blast with the snowball toss, which turned into hide and seek with two of the boys, and eventually one of the girls.
Parents even joined in on the snowball toss. One little boy played for almost an hour and a half. In attendance was a father and daughter from Asia, and though they couldn’t speak English, they had the neatest translator app, so we were able to communicate and get the little girl dolled up with makeup and nail polish, as well as crowning her with a tiara.
It’s always a blessing to watch kids have so much fun, whatever the station/activity, and more so to watch the parents relax and enjoy seeing their children being kids again. This event was no exception. Kids, parent and volunteers all had a great time!
