October 19th - Trunk or Treat, Ronald McDonald House Gatewood

Wonderful turnout at this event, which always makes the program so much more fun! Creative Xpressions photography not only donated professional photography of the night, Dawn also gifted 5 full family photo packages to For A Day Foundation Atlanta! We are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful gift, and would like to identify For A Day Families that would benefit from capturing precious family memories. I would like to make a post on our facebook and website so that followers can help identify or nominate a For A Day child before the holidays to receive this extra special gift.

We had a full house of characters this evening: Iron Man, Snow White, Belle, Elsa, Anna, a mermaid, and Superman came out to play! This event was the first time the Atlanta chapter rented a party package for programming. The snow cone machine was a great hit, and we are looking into ways to have this tasty snack at all events. The cold and sweet syrup (even a sugar free option!) were greatly appreciated by many children who, according to their parents, have been particularly picky eaters as of late (especially the children on chemotherapy).

The children absolutely loved the bouncy house, and many parents reported that the inflatable princess castle energized their usually shy and withdrawn children. Princess Grace, one of the For A Day kids, even hosted a princess party in the castle with Snow White, Belle, Anna, and Elsa. Many parents expressed thanks for the Halloween dress up table as many children were not able to go get costumes this year. Children had the option of a miscellaneous costume table, princess dresses at the castle, and superhero gear at Superman’s hero station. I will be investing in a few more costumes during the post Halloween sale this year.
