December 13 Sparrow Hospital visit summary
LOVE the HOLIDAYS! What fun Ashley Floyd, Officer Barb from the East Lansing Police Department, and Cynthia Meteyer from Sparrow Hospital had with the kids on Saturday. We sang “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”, decorated sugar cookies (I didn’t know tiny cookies could hold so much sugar-weight!) and made ornaments. Our main location for all this fun was in the playroom but we had a chance to visit a few of the “little elves” in their rooms. In all we laughed and sang with 15 kids, age 6 months to 16 years. Thank you to the East Lansing Police Department for the teddy bears, cars and tattoos and Cindy Meteyer for bringing the delicious sugar cookies.

Oct 30 Sparrow Hospital Royal Tuck In summary
Royal Tuck In Halloween Edition was a huge success! Aimee Fitzgerald, Ashley Floyd and our amazing escort from Sparrow Hospital Cynthia Meteyer all dressed up to bring some Halloween fun to the pediatric unit at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. We asked many questions of the 17 kids (and many siblings) ages 6 months to 21 year about their outfits and plans for the fun, candy filled holiday. We gave them books, blankets, bookmarks, candy and fun Halloween toys to celebrate the holiday.
Oct 31 Ann & Robert H. Luri Hospital visit summary
On October 31st, I had the amazing experience to host a FADF Tea and Hero Party for the kids on the 17th and 18th floor of Ann & Robert H. Luri Hospital in Chicago. What started out to be a chilly morning in the Windy City for our patients, with snowflakes falling all around us in the open clinic, 18 floors high, happily ended with every one of our patients and volunteers with a warm, excited, and fulfilled heart.
We were expecting to see anywhere from 80 to 100 patients in the open clinic and we were right on the numbers. As busy as the morning was, greeting patient after patient in the open clinic, I was able to have an intimate experience with each boy and girl. While most of our attendees were girls, they came with the whole family, bringing little sisters or brothers. We were certainly tight on space in such a short time frame but it didn’t seem to bother our kid’s one bit.
Everyone walked away with bags full. Being the haunted Hallows Eve, we handed out spooky treats for the kids, fun make-up kits, nail polish, boas, tiaras, super hero capes, fire hats, and more. The kids had a blast trying on all there goodies and getting dressed up.
We had an area set up for the boys and girls to take pictures. We had princess palace doors and a fire fighter wall as well. The public figures were great with the kids. We secured 4 local fire fighters of the Chicago Central Station and one beauty titleholder, Belizean Latina Chapter. We also got personally signed officiated Hero and Queen letters from Mayor Emanuel himself!!
There was coloring and games for our kids to dive into while awaiting each station.
We had patients that were dressed from head to toe with additions from FADF but also some who came already in the holiday spirit. It was great to see so many big smiles on such a cold dreary day.
We owe so much and are grateful for the following: Chicago Central Station, Mayor of Chicago, Sherry Hicks, Julie Perieme, Heidi Lust, Target of Evanston, IL, and Ann & Robert H. Luri Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Without you our event would not have been the success that it was. Stay posted on social media, Facebook For A Day Chicago, to see our next scheduled event.
