Jashlyn's mom called on a Monday asking for help with her daughter’s birthday. As soon as we heard her request, we contacted a group of supporters who without hesitation said that they would love to help this sweet girl whose birthday was going to be during the weekend.
We called her mom asking her which party theme Jashlyn wanted for her birthday celebration. She said that she wanted Unicorn. We rushed to buy her birthday decorations and a cake. We also had the good fortune to buy as Jashlyn's birthday present a book while attending one of the Latin Women Initiative Luncheons, at which Diana López, the writer of the book Coco was going to be the speaker.
We spoke with Diana and asked her which one of her books she would recommend for Jashlyn. Diana recommended Ask My Mood Ring How I Feel, which Diana autographed and wrote a special message, “For Jashlyn... Wishing you health and happiness.”
On Sunday, we met with Jashlyn's mom and gave her the decorations, cake, and Diana López's book for Jashlyn's birthday celebration. Jashlyn's mom expressed her deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this Jashlyn's birthday celebration possible.
